10 December 2003
If you are visiting this page because you were the lucky
recipient of PRO’S CHRISTMAS MIX
2003, then congratulations – you’re one
of the fortunate ones. If you received this link via email, then you’re the
lucky recipient of a digital card. If you just happened up on this page, well
then, best of the holidays to you.
Last year was quite frantic surrounding Christmas time and
I didn’t get a chance to do PRO’S CHRISTMAS MIX 2002 … however I’m still
complimented on the 2000 & 2001 iterations. This year I’ve made some time
to burn some CD's,
even though it seems even more frantic.
It’s been quite a year in Toronto with SARS, West Nile
Virus and the Power Outage behind us; it appears as though the media will be
sorely void of maladies to attribute to our fair city. The truth is, SARS was
overblown, the West Nile Virus doesn’t really affect the downtown dwellers and
the night of the Power Outage was one of the most pleasantly memorable
evenings in recent memory. So no matter how many lemons we’re thrown we
inevitably make lemonade.
I’m kinda stunned that the year has flown by so swiftly,
I was wondering the other day about what happened to July and realized that the
snow outside was an indicator of it being December.
Life and Career have been interesting; after two years of
working at Norr Limited
Architects & Engineers *
I decided to move to another firm called architectsAlliance **
and I’ve been content beyond my wildest expectations. I’m not sure
how much the 2-minute walk to and from work has to do with my new found level of
contentment, suffice it to say – it helps. (no kidding either - from doorstep
to doorstep is 2 minutes!) The people are all fantastic there and the projects
are extremely interesting and engaging – so I’m settling in after about 7
months.
Life has been fun; I managed to sneak away to NYC
for my 32nd birthday to go see the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York
Rangers, in January. And again to go see a Manchester
United – Juventus soccer game, at the end of July. Both were memorable
experiences.
Life has thrown it’s curves; in fall my maternal
grandfather passed away making it to the ripe old age of 82. I was back in Sault
Ste Marie for the services, it went better than I could have imagined and it was
very good to be with family.
Life has spoiled me; I finally upgraded my computer, have ordered a phone with a camera built in it, I just picked up Rogers Digital Cable and with that I have Fox Sports World … which in layman’s terms means I will be able to watch up to 4 soccer games per day. I also have the NHL Network and Leafs TV … so hockey coverage isn’t a problem either, in case you were worried about that!
Life’s been busy; my sister and brother-in-law have decided to build their next house and have asked me to prepare the drawings for them. I hesitate to say, “I’m designing their house” because they have a pretty clear idea about what they want. In fact, it’s the same house they had two houses ago – except because this isn’t a developer house, they have the opportunity to customize everything to suit them. When they asked me to do this project I said, “I’m guessing you don’t want a modern box with a flat roof, do you?” … “no” …think Versailles! (joke – it doesn’t look like Versailles) I’m just happy to help them out … and I get to hang out with my nephews! (I wire them up with candy when the client meetings aren’t favourable for me)
Life looks good; I honestly feel really great about the
upcoming year – I have this feeling like something good is going to happen. We
could be on the cusp of something good … but I don’t think the Leafs will
win the Cup this year!
All my warmest holiday wishes to you and yours.
Ciao
